Safaris and National Parks

Uganda is home to some of Africa’s most stunning national parks. Volunteers can enjoy game drives in Lake Mburo, Kidepo, Kibaale, Queen Elizabeth, or Murchison Falls National Park, spotting elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, and more. For those seeking untouched wilderness, Kidepo Valley National Park offers a remote safari experience like no other. Park entry fees start from around $40, with game drives and boat cruises ranging between $20–$30.

 

Adventure and Outdoor Activities

If you’re looking for excitement, Uganda won’t disappoint. You can hike the trails of Sipi Falls, go abseiling or join a coffee tour in the eastern highlands. In Jinja, the adventure capital of East Africa, you can try white-water rafting on the Nile ($125), bungee jumping ($120), or a peaceful boat ride on the river. Trekking opportunities also await at Mount Elgon or the Rwenzori Mountains, where guided hikes start at about $35–$70 per day.
